Anvil Creek is a $620 million master-planned resort and residential development currently under consideration by the Cessnock City Council.

The plan for the 423-hectare (1045 acre) site, of which more than 275 hectares will remain as open space, includes an international standard, Graham Marsh designed golf course with a clubhouse, hotel and tourist villas, plus a range of residential dwellings.

Undulating land, existing creeks meandering through the course, large areas of remnant vegetation and the low density of the proposed development surrounding the golf course, all combine to form the ideal framework for a classic golf course to challenge and stimulate golfers of every standard.

Our design brief for the planning of the golf course was very simple - a "no compromise" golf course to challenge and stimulate golfers of every standard. The golf course is planned to play as two returning nines - the front nine playing out and back to the east and south portions of the site alongside Anvil Creek, and the back nine playing initially to the west and then looping back towards the northern corner of the site before returning home to the south up a broad valley to the Clubhouse.

A major criteria for the golf course is that it places the minimum possible demands upon the local ecology and respects the local and regional environment.
